Welcome, friends! Today is an exciting one at Canvas & Clay as we venture into the world of film with our brand new video series, the “Creative Parenting Podcast”.

Each month we will reach out to our parent community with fresh content to inform and inspire artful parenting. We are eager to share our insight as educators with the parents who help our studio thrive. With topics ranging from art education in the home to how-to’s & demos, we look forward to filling your family life with the same creative spark we pass on to our students each day.

Thank-you for your continued support…now grab a cup of joe and enjoy!

Art shows rock!

Art shows rock.  The student work is spectacular, the company irreplaceable, and the impromptu live guitar in the background just the perfect amount of merry.

Last Saturday’s event was especially sweet since we topped off the usual art display with holiday festivities, a charity raffle, AND a ribbon cutting. I’m happily exhausted all over again just thinking about it!

student work

To those of you who came out on a cold and blustery Saturday night to support our incredibly talented students, thank-you. We do this 100% for the kids (and adults!) who pour their hearts out in our studios each week. Acknowledging our students with a bit of pomp and circumstance (and egg nog and crafting…) is sure to bolster their artistic confidence and lifelong love of the arts. Thank-you for joining us in this mission!

To those of you who purchased a raffle ticket to benefit “Inner City Arts”, thank-you. This skid row art center has created an urban oasis where LAUSD students can create, explore, and escape. Because of your donations, we raised enough money to send 3 students though the Inner City Arts program for a full year! Bravo!

Anjale & Alice

To those of you who raised a glass of bubbly to the re-branding of our Beach City studio, thank-you. I am so honored to call you all my friends, and thrilled not to have been judged when a tear or two slipped out. We are honored every day to be part of this incredible community, and cannot wait to extend our reach with our new name and fresh look! Thank-you for your support. With your help, Canvas & Clay has officially arrived.

Until next show!

From KidsArt to Canvas & Clay

Hello friends! Welcome to our first blog post as Canvas & Clay.

We are so excited to introduce our new look – those of you who knew us as KidsArt just last month will love us even more as Canvas & Clay, we promise. Keep an eye out for all kinds of exciting changes: this website, for one (so pretty!), plus hip new signage, cool new t-shirts, tote bags & aprons, fresh studio improvements, and even a few surprises we’ll let you know about in good time.

Now here’s what WON’T change: our fabulous curriculum and teaching methods. The incredible KidsArt philosophy that has educated thousands of South Bay students over the last 9 years is here to stay. You can feel good knowing our roots are still as solid as ever.

So why the change? Well, after 9 years as KidsArt, we looked around and noticed we’d grown a lot since our opening in August of 2004. First of all, many of our students are no longer “kids”. Those little ones who began taking classes with us as kindergarteners are now in high school, and many of their parents have since jumped onto the art train as well. In addition, with the opening of our clay studio in March of 2012, our adult classes have boomed, with Wine and Clay Fridays attracting a whole new group of art lovers.

Rolling out a refreshed identity as Canvas & Clay is our way of welcoming our entire community – ages 4 to 94 – into our drawing, painting & clay studios. We are thrilled to be shifting into a look that we feel reflects our students and studios so perfectly at this current stage of our business life. Our hope at Canvas & Clay is that you feel inspired to come in and try your hand at something new! It’s our job to help you stretch your creative muscle, and with a 9 year track record here in the South Bay, we guarantee you’ll be receiving the highest level of art education no matter your age.

So poke around here a bit, visit our facebook and pinterest pages, then let us know if you’re ready to embark on your very own Canvas & Clay journey!
