Anjalé Perrault, President and Owner
Anjalé Perrault is the owner and President of Canvas & Clay. A painter, writer, and mother of two boys, Anjale is honored to nurture the creative minds of her students. Her hope is that every child will grow to feel the same inspiration, passion, and confidence that she does every time she picks up a paint brush or ball of clay.
Anjalé holds two degrees with honors from UCLA, and has painted commissions, illustrated children’s books, and taught professionally for 21 years. You can find her work at anjale.com.
Monique Hansen, Clay Teacher
Monique Hansen is a South Bay local who loves all dimensions of art. She attended Harbor Community college, El Camino Community College and California State University at Long Beach. Monique teaches wet clay classes here at Canvas & Clay were she encourages her students to take 2 dimensional art into the 3 dimensions. In addition to teaching art Monique teaches at Ride to Fly a therapeutic horseback riding organization in Palos Verdes.
Jackie Jauregui, Teacher
Jackie is a South Bay native and graduated from California State University Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in Art Education and a Single Subject Credential in Art for Secondary Education. Her artwork is mainly in the forms of watercolor and printmaking and frequently mixes the two as to further explore art through mixed media. She hopes to bring her love of art to her own high school classroom one day.
Thea Porter, Teacher
Thea is a passionate creator of environments, with experience in visual design, set design, interior design and the fashion industry, as well as the studio arts. She graduated from CSULB with a Studio Art major and an emphasis in Sculpture. Her body of work focused on set design and prop making, and after college she began her career as a set decorator and a visual designer. Thea is so excited to be passing on her love of the arts to the children at Canvas & Clay.
Lynnae Maki, Teacher
Lynnae Maki is a photographer and graphic designer from Redding, California. Since graduating with a B.A. in graphic design from CBU she has spent the last several years traveling and pursuing her love of art. She has had the opportunity to live in Brazil, Spain, and Indonesia. She currently operates her own photography business out of Torrance, CA, as well as works as a freelance designer and illustrator in her spare time. Her passion for investing in the lives of children and helping to foster their creativity is at the forefront of her life. She has worked with children as a mentor, counselor, and teacher for the past eight years and continues to seek out opportunities to grow as an artist while living in Los Angeles.
Evelyn Garcia, Manager
Evelyn came to Canvas & Clay with a background in school administration with LAUSD. A lover of family, baseball, and organization, Evelyn has found the studios to be the prefect place to set roots and utilize her talents.
